dresses in a window

I got a really great response to my last wedding post, so I want to do lots more of wedding content for you guys before the big day next year. Today I thought I’d tell you some of the things I’ve learnt so far while we’ve been planning..

  1. You immediately become obsessed with Pinterest and have a board dedicated to your wedding, of course. Although now at least it doesn’t have to be ‘secret’..
  2. When you find your dress, you will justย know that it’s the one for you. Yep, annoying but true! I’m writing this on the afternoon of actually getting my wedding dress and I’m still on such a high, it honestly feels like a dream. I just want to wear it again now!
  3. You will never believe how opinionated everyone is when it comes to YOUR wedding.
  4. There will be some traditions you really love, and others, not so much. And that’s totally okay. Our weddings should reflect who we are as individuals aswell as a couple.
  5. You ask yourself if people really need wedding favours, especially when you’re buying them a meal. Just me?
  6. You kind of have all the power and its incredible, not going to lie. Sure, some things you have to manage, but the fact that you have the final say feels good.
  7. There is always so much to do. Once one task is sorted, its straight onto the next.
  8. All the fuss seems a bit dramatic for one day, but I suppose you are only doing it once, so we might aswell make the most of it!

Is there anything you learnt or are learning whilst planning your wedding? I would love to know!

  • I loved reading this, we haven’t properly started planning our wedding yet as even though we’re engaged we’re not planning on getting married for a little while, but I can totally relate. Pinterest is everything too, so many amazing ideas even if I’m super fussy as to what I pin to my wedding board haha.

I love the bit about how you just know it’s your dress! I’ve always been excited to have that feeling, it’s so special when you’re so sure of it. I think everyone will definitely have their own opinions, but as long as you and your fiance agree on things and are happy with it, that’s all that matters in the end! Happy planning Natalie xx

    • So so true. All about us as a couple and forgetting what some people ‘might’ think <3 xx

  • I’m planning my wedding too and know all about these! Pinterest especially – I’ve always been obsessed, but even more so now. I’ve actually created several secret boards with specific ideas like bridesmaids, flowers, decor etc. I want to keep it a bit of a surprise so my more specific things are going there then I’ll make the boards public afterwards – helps me organise it all more!

    • Ooh I never thought of doing different boards but should totally do that! xx

  • I’ve been married for almost 6 months and I miss planning, even when it got stressful and annoying! Especially when my mom wanted to invite the people she wanted, but she was paying for most of it so I had to comply. I didn’t give out favors, I just had a photobooth and everyone had their photo strips printed out so I guess you could count that as a favor. And I had some doubts about my dress after I got it, but after I got fitted, wore it on the wedding day with my hair, makeup, jewelry, veil, etc. I felt so freaking beautiful and had no regrets!

    • I love the idea of photo booths, we’re definitely thinking of having one and they seem like they go down a treat! I bet you looked beautiful xx

  • Planning a wedding must be so stressful, with lots of things to think and to do! But at the same time, it’s amazing to live all those little happy moments!
Wish you best of luck and I’m sure it will be an amazing day!! ๐Ÿ˜€

So true! I just went wedding dress shopping a few weeks ago and ended up loving the very first dress I found and tried on. Didn’t think it would be that easy! Honestly, I’ve been going back and forth on other sites to see if there’s anything better, but there’s really not! ๐Ÿ™‚
