I feel like Twitter is where the blogging community is the best. I’m so sad I missed out on it for A YEAR when I had my previous blog (shoutout if you remember that).

I would definitely recommend following other bloggers over there, sharing posts that you’ve read that you loved, and of course, joining in the blog twitter chats. Its such a great place FILLED with positivity.

I try to join in on twitter chats at least once a week, whether thats a girlpower chat, or blogosphere. Its a great way to get exposure, and you also get to chat with loads of like-minded people who love blogging as much as you do!

I also use Buffer to share links my blog posts on my Twitter account, as you can schedule 10 at a time, which means you’re not *constantly* on your phone. Well, not as much anyway!

For me, Instagram is the most up and down of them all. Likes and followers can be super good one day, and plummet the next. Unfortunately I haven’t ‘cracked’ the new algorithm so I can’t share any useful information.

All I try to do is post pictures that I like, and be real and authentic with my followers. The biggest way to get a wider reach on Instagram is definitely hashtags. Rhianna from Rhianna Olivia  did an AWESOME Instagram chat at a blog event and its still available on her Facebook page (where I watched it). I learnt *loads* of tips & tricks, such as times best to post, making it personal to you etc. I would definitely advise you to have a little look if you feel like you’re struggling with Instagram growth. Who isn’t with that app ATM?

This is the newest one to me, but I’m starting to get into it and I feel like I’m slowly getting to grips.

I still need help when it comes to making ‘pinterestable’ images for my blog, but I just need to have a bit more time available to Google and experiment with it. Recently though, I’m really been enjoying making templates on Canva  of blog posts which I then post to Pinterest on my ‘blogging’ board.

Pinterest monthly views seem crazy (mine are at 36k and I have 124 followers!), but its definitely a good figure to include in your media kit. I have a number of different boards (dream home, inspiration, food etc.) and I try to pin 3 times a day, if only for 5 minutes at a time. That way it doesn’t take up too much of my time, but I’m still fairly active on it.

Do you have any social media tips? Am I missing anything?

  • Zara

I used to love pinterest when I first found it maybe like 4 or 5 years ago? But I never use it to blog and it’s something I really want to work on because it seems like such a great way to interact and publicise posts! xo

    • I’m not 100% sure of what to do with it, but I’m enjoying it ATM!

  • I couldn’t agree more on Instagram – one day, it’s amazing, the next day, you’re no one, haha! I need to get into Twitter!
    Have an awesome day,
    xx Kris

  • What about Tumblr? I started to get into it recently and really loving it. But I agree, Twitter is the best of them all

  • Social media platforms are so useful especially when it comes to sharing your work online and chatting to other bloggers/creatives. I’ve been focusing on Instagram but I’d like to get back into using Twitter more! Helpful post 🙂 x

    • I would love to see a post on how you use Pinterest!

  • I also started using Pinterest to promote my blog recently, everyone says that it can drive so much traffic! I am still not a pro at it but I’m slowly getting better! x

    • I really need to see what the traffic from it is like! I’ve never looked into it before.

  • Eloise Mae

I love twitter and twitter chats; I find most if not all of my views come via there so it’s definitely a good site 🙂 I tend to use pinterest for writing as opposed to blogging but if it helps then I might start doing that too.

  • This is such a fab post, Natalie! Twitter is definitely my favourite of them all. It used to be Instagram, but as you said, it’s such a love/hate thing at the moment xx

My favourite is Instagram but it’s DEFINITELY a love-hate relationship… I’m a visual person which is why I enjoy it the most, but like you, I just haven’t cracked that algorithm either… Maybe one day!

I need to get into Pinterest too – I’ve heard it can be so good at driving traffic to your blog but I’ve just been too lazy to get it properly started. Maybe that could be my goal for this month 🙂 xx

Wow pintrest sounds like the perfect thing. I would love to get that many pageviews. I literally only get like 2,000 a month.
