ON BAD DAYS.

Bad days are just, ugh.

Yet, we all have them don’t they? You could probably be forgiven that thinking your the only one who has them rear their ugly heads, and I sure as heck sometimes feel like that on social media.

It’s just a fact that most people won’t talk about theirs, and I totally get where they are coming from. I know that when I have a bad day, the last thing I want to do is go online. I don’t want to post a pretty picture to Instagram, I don’t want talk on Twitter, all I want to do is go to bed and be left alone, although maybe bring me tea and biscuits please.

Once I’m out of my funk, I share what I’ve been feeling and growing through. I don’t want people to think my life is ‘perfect’.. as if there is such a thing. I want to tell my online mates what is making me feel shitty, and when they comment with advice I listen to them.

When I see another people sharing how they are feeling I find it so refreshing and it makes me do a double-check that WAIT I have actually been comparing and they have bad days aswell and their life is not perfect, they are human like me too.

Sometimes you’ve just gotta have a cry to your mum, and let it all out.

I really believe that it is the bad days that make the good days, so good.

THINGS I DO ON A BAD DAY:

  • Don’t force being happy. Accepting my feelings always brings a bit of space between me and ‘them’, which makes them feel a lot more manageable.
  • Don’t feel guilty about them. We ALL have them, promise.
  • Eat things that make me nostalgic/that I ate as a child. Strawberries and ice cream, yes!
  • Don’t constantly think about how bad the day is you’re having.
  • Spend time with people I love
  • Have a Netflix binge
  • Listen to music and zone out for a while
  • Try and get fresh air, if I can
  • Have a really hot bath

What do you think about bad days? Do you share them when you have them?

  • Such lovely advice. I’m glad you’re someone who is always lovely, true and honest . I always struggle to let myself feel those not so good days. I never let myself just ‘be’ so this was a super reminder that it’s okay to have those moments! I hope your week is a bright and happy one. Xxx

    Love milly,

Thank you so much Milly, you are always so kind to me <3

  • This is perfect advice lovely lady. You are so right, we ALL have bad days, or just weeks were ya don’t feel quite right. I definitely think acceptance is the best thing, accepting that it is OK not to feel 100% and take a step back. Also, YES strawberries and ice cream is the best! Immy x

Definitely, its so easy to think we’re the only ones and are totally alone, when everyone has them too! xx

  • You are SO correct. I tend to always feel guilty for simply laying in bed and not accomplishing anything on bad days. But in reality, I’m accomplishing taking care of myself!
p.s. strawberries and ice cream is sooo yummy. 🙂

That’s so true! I always feel guilty but some days we need to be less ‘on the go’ than the others!

  • This is such a lovely post! You’re so right, everyone has bad days and sometimes social media can portray everyone to be leading such a fun great life that never has any negatives. The tips you mentioned are so important though. I definitely do similiar things on bad days xx

So glad you liked it girl, I wish everyone spoke about their bad days but it can be a very personal thing! xx

  • I think you’re so right, forcing yourself to be happy when you’re feeling down is the worst thing you can do! It’s better to just accept your feeling and then move on.

It SUCKS! And it never works! Once you accept it it feels more manageable

  • Those are some really good ideas for when you’re having a bad day. I definitely go out and get some fresh air and also watch some tv! It’s the littlest things that count! x

I definitely find that fresh air helps SO much too! Just going for a little 10-15 minute walk can clear my head so much. I once read a quote somewhere that went somewhere along the lines of “You don’t have a bad life, just a bad day” which is so simple, but something that I try to remember when I get into my pit of self loathing on a bad day! x

I went for a walk yesterday whilst listening to a podcast and felt so much better after! I love that quote xxx

I try to share them because I like to be as honest as possible online, but like you say I don’t always feel like going online when I’m having a bad day!

I usually am more active once I’m in a better mood and then I can talk about it whilst feeling a bit better! xx

  • Points one and two. Sometimes there’s no need to dwell, but there is a need to just go with it and accept we can’t always be sunshine and lollipops happy!
Fresh air – yes, but sometimes the sofa has too much appeal!
Working in a customer facing role at my cafe, every day, isn’t so helpful when I’m not feeling chirpy though!

Oh I can imagine that is really hard, putting on a smile when you’re not feeling yourself must be very tough! xxx

  • I had a bath today and it was lovely, just what I needed. It’s important to recognise bad days and not feel guilty about them.
