WHY HAVING A SISTER IS HAVING A BEST FRIEND FOR LIFE.

Basically, I wanted to write a little something about my sister on the blog. I’m sure if you follow me on my other social media, you know she is obviously a massive part of my life, and we have the best relationship but I don’t think I’ve spoken about her much on the blog before. Which is weird, really as she is a huge influence to me.

SHE REMINDS ME TO BE BRAVE

Chantelle is the bravest person I know, hands down. She’s also the most intelligent but I’ll save that for another day. We like to describe her a secret ninja at our house, as she is very kind, loving and petite, but boy has she got determination. She never lets anyone stand in her way, or drag her down. She reminds me that I can have my dream life, and that the only person is stopping me is ME. To be brave and embrace the journey. She is fearless.

SHE REMINDS ME THAT BEING DIFFERENT IS BETTER THAN BEING BORING

Me and my sister have always had our own way of doing things. We like what we like, and we don’t really care what other people think of that. We put together outfits that we fancy (that may include double denim on my behalf), and if we want the metallic shoes, we’ll get them.

She embraces her own individuality and teaches me to let mine flourish too.

SHE REMINDS ME THAT WOMEN CAN BE LIMITLESS

I often fall into the trap of thinking that you can either be strong, or gentle. Wistful and imaginative, or ambitious and driven. Caring and quiet, or joyful and enthusiastic.

Chantelle reminds me that I can be ALL of those things, and anything else I want to add to the list too. What a wonderful thing.

I would love to know if you have a sister and a bit about your relationship, if you wanted to share it of course ๐Ÿ™‚

Why having Nat as a little sister is having a best friend for life

SHE REMINDS ME THAT SELF CARE IS IMPORTANT

It is easy in life to be distracted, to be constantly running around battling a never ending list of life admin, work and social commitments, without taking time to stop and think about what you want to do and what you need in that moment. Nat has taught me the value of self-care and that the moments where we feel like we are short on time are actually the moments where we need to look after ourselves the most. (ps Thanks for all the manicures and cups of tea Nat!)

SHE IS MY BIG SISTER WHEN I NEED HER TO BE

I have a life which ‘on paper’ probably looks like I’ve got it all sorted – spoiler: I don’t (and I very much doubt any one else does!). Nat is the person I turn to when things don’t go exactly to plan, my shoulder to cry on and my biggest cheerleader in moments of self doubt.

SHE IS THE SERENA TO MY BLAIR

She is the person I want to share adventures with, whether that is singing on the top note at Taylor Swift concerts to learning to paddle board at Centre Parcs to choosing our wedding dresses together. We have yet to take on New York City together but when we do, it will be epic.

    XOXO

      LOVE!!!

  • I loved reading this blog post and it made me really want this kind of relationship with my sister. Everybody used to tell us when we were younger that we would be the best of friends one day, but it just never really happened. We can be there for each other when we need it, but other than that, there isn’t really anything there. You never know, maybe one day…

Oh Iโ€™m sure one day it might happen for you both, that would be lovely!

  • I have a brother (which is definitely very different), but I have this exact relationship with my two first cousins <3 Having people like these in our lives is so fantastic, isn't it?
