This isn’t a post on about to be positive DURING tough times. I don’t think such a thing exists, well not for me anyway! This is meant to be for when the dust has settled, and you feel like you might be able to get back to your old self in the not so distant future.

When I still don’t feel 100% after a hard time, I crave comfort. I let myself have it in any form I desire. Whether thats ditching my usual healthy food choices for extra chocolate, or indulging in heartier dishes, if it comforts me, I’m gonna have it. If its reading in bed for a few hours on an evening to take your mind off things, do it. Anything that makes you feel like a warm hug from the inside, is SO worth it.

I think that sometimes people expect us to be back to our best selves, much quicker than is actually realistic. Don’t try to complete everything you used to do in one day like your best self, its okay to have a few ‘off’ hours and let yourself digest that down time to recuperate. Take it easy. Your body (and your mind!) will most likely be a bit frazzled and not working on full steam, so try to be a bit gentler than you would usually be to yourself.

If treating yourself to some new beauty bits brings back that feeling of excitement, I 100% recommend. (This definitely works for me πŸ™‚ ) Maybe you want to plan a day trip to somewhere new with your friend, or arrange a cinema date with the BF, having little plans to look forward to are soΒ great and makes you feel a lot more positive.

I hope this helped you if you needed it! Love <3 xxx

Lovely post babe, I definitely agree you need to be kind to yourself after a tough time – indulging myself a bit in food I like/TV I like and just a bit of self care is a biggie for me!

  • Completely for the chocolate bingeing!! I need to remember to be gentle with myself… such an easy thing to do especially when going through something rough.

Aw these are all such lovely points. I usually try to get as comfortable as I can and do what I’d like, whether it means eating ice cream, or sitting in bed all day- I do it! I think allowing ourselves to feel our emotions is really important. I love how inspiring and optimistic your posts are Natalie!

Sending light & love your way,

Beautiful post! The second point of this article was kind of the reminder that I needed, which is to “take it easy” and give myself the time I need instead of pressuring myself to work “on full steam” like you said. Such a lovely photo!
I’m so in love with your blog and content, I’d love if we can follow each other on Bloglovin maybe? Do let me know πŸ™‚

  • You’re so right, I totally agree! I this busy world a lot of people will expect you to get back on track much quicker than is actually realistic. I always go for some retail therapy myself as well and a good bath with some of my favourite TV shows like Gossip girl!
    Love, Marlinde x

    • Oh yes I love a bath! Gossip Girl is an old favourite too! x

  • I totally agree with all of this advice. I’m definitely prone to some rough times and couple of years back I used to really struggle to stay positive. But now I’m starting to learn how to make things better and get back on track by staying positive. I definitely find comfort by watching my favourite Netflix series or treating myself to some chocolate! Lovely post Natalie! πŸ™‚ xx

What a lovely post – super uplifting ☺️

  • Lovely post Natalie! I agree, it is very hard for me to stay positive DURING tough times. I need to learn to be more gentle with myself – when I’m feeling crap I still try to be my best self and sometimes you just don’t need to be and need to take a step back!
