I accept that this is a niche post, because I know when some people hear the terms ‘meditation’ and ‘mindfulness’ they want to slam their head against the wall. If thats you, I wouldn’t suggest reading any further!

BUT, if you’re intrigued, I hope this post may convince you to have a little go, if you want.

I have meditated every day for the last 2 years.

I know, it sounds a bit intense. A bit ‘hippy’.

But if I put that into context for you, maybe it won’t sound as ‘out there’ as it originally did.

One busy morning I managed to sit in bed before getting up for 5 minutes, focusing on my breathing and intentions for the day. One day I only had time for a 2 minute body scan (using the Calm app). One evening before bed I did 10 minutes meditation using my favourite meditation Youtube channel (positive magazine).

Meditation isn’t sat staring at the wall for half an hour a day. Most experts on the subjects say its better to be more mindful throughout your whole day then force yourself to do it, and I completely agree. Any time you can tune into your body and just ‘sit’ without thinking, focus on your breathing, is so worth it for you and your health. Meditation has so many benefits, most of which you can see within a quick Google search, but I only do it because of how it makes me feel after.

I’m rubbish at forcing myself to do things if I don’t enjoy them. I know after I’ve meditated I will feel happier, calmer, more content and at peace. Yup, all that after only 10 minutes.

Its such a massive part of my life now, and I don’t know what I’d do without it.

I’m telling you, its a game changer.

Have you ever meditated or are you not interested?

  • I meditate every day – ish. There are days I forget or keep putting it off in favour of other things, and I always regret it when I don’t. I find it grounds me and organises my mind a little. It creates space when my head is full to the brim, and slows my mind down too. It also takes a huge weight off my shoulders and I always feel like I stand a little taller, I’m a little lighter afterwards.

    • Peta, that is exactly how I feel too! You’ve described it SO SO well xxx

  • I’ve never meditated in my life BUT I am really interested in the idea because most of the time I feel like I’m just all frazzled and very much not at peace haha. So I found this really interesting – and would love to hear more if you are planning on any other posts about it 🙂 xxx

    • Girl, you should just try 10 minutes one day and see what you think! xxx

      • I feel like I wouldn’t even know how to do it or clear my mind or not get distracted! Any posts you can recommend (or write!) about trying to get to grips with it would be super helpful 🙂 xxx

  • Such a great post lovely!! I love meditation, but just don’t get much time to do it!

    • It can be hard to fit in, sometimes we just need to force ourselves to do it and we feel so much better after! x

  • Amy Eade

I’m definitely going to download the calm app, I’m not sure how good I’ll be at clearing my mind but I’ll give it a go! Xx

    • I think you might be surprised! Let me know how it goes! xx

  • I’m definitely interested in meditating. I tried it with an app once (I forget what it was called) and I could see how it makes you calmer and more content, I just couldn’t get into the routine of making time for it every single day – I need to try again me thinks! x

    • Maybe just aim for 2-3 times a week and see how it goes? xxx

  • Lots of people have recommended meditating to me as I can get so anxious and stressed sometimes but I’ve never properly given it a go. I would really love to start with it somewhere and I have just read another blog post that mentioned the Calm app so I feel like it is meant to be!

    Blushing Lately

    • Its such a great app! Maybe try to do it once or twice a week for 10 minutes and see how it goes and if you feel different? xxx

  • Katie Lou

Wow, 2 years – that’s awesome! I have recently started to try and include it in my daily routine, I have a few apps including Calm. One I use (Insight) has some great guided meditations for deep sleep which are great before bed to reflect & relax. There is no excuse about being unable to “make time” for this then because I was going to bed anyway and now I just pop my ear plugs in too & I’ve had some of the best sleep since doing this. It’s then encouraged me to do some more in the morning, I think it’s a perfect way to start & finish your day. Love this post Natalie xo

    • Ooh I will check that app out! Thank you for the tip Katie xxx

  • I’ve been mediating on and off for a while now. I’d love to be more consistent, but sometimes I just forget.. One that days that I do it I can really see a difference, I feel more at peace and focused! 🙂

    • Sometimes life definitely gets in the way doesn’t it?

  • Wildfire Charm

Your dedication is amazing! I like to meditate as well but I don’t do it everyday. Every now and then when I feel like my mind needs it, I’ll do it. I can definitely tell that it makes a difference and makes me a lot calmer and helps with anxiety. 🙂
