I accept that this is a niche post, because I know when some people hear the terms ‘meditation’ and ‘mindfulness’ they want to slam their head against the wall. If thats you, I wouldn’t suggest reading any further!
BUT, if you’re intrigued, I hope this post may convince you to have a little go, if you want.
I have meditated every day for the last 2 years.
I know, it sounds a bit intense. A bit ‘hippy’.
But if I put that into context for you, maybe it won’t sound as ‘out there’ as it originally did.
One busy morning I managed to sit in bed before getting up for 5 minutes, focusing on my breathing and intentions for the day. One day I only had time for a 2 minute body scan (using the Calm app). One evening before bed I did 10 minutes meditation using my favourite meditation Youtube channel (positive magazine).
Meditation isn’t sat staring at the wall for half an hour a day. Most experts on the subjects say its better to be more mindful throughout your whole day then force yourself to do it, and I completely agree. Any time you can tune into your body and just ‘sit’ without thinking, focus on your breathing, is so worth it for you and your health. Meditation has so many benefits, most of which you can see within a quick Google search, but I only do it because of how it makes me feel after.
I’m rubbish at forcing myself to do things if I don’t enjoy them. I know after I’ve meditated I will feel happier, calmer, more content and at peace. Yup, all that after only 10 minutes.
Its such a massive part of my life now, and I don’t know what I’d do without it.
I’m telling you, its a game changer.
Have you ever meditated or are you not interested?
